The DfE Technology Standards set out what good IT looks like in a school. But knowing the standards exist and knowing how well you meet them are two very different things.
Most schools are doing more right than they realise. Some have gaps they don’t know about. Either way, you need to know, and that’s what this audit is for.
We work through the DfE Technology Standards in plain English, assess your current setup against each requirement, and give you a written report that tells you exactly where you stand.
No technical jargon. No padded-out recommendations designed to sell you services you don’t need. Just a clear, honest picture of your IT environment and a prioritised list of next steps.
What’s included?
The audit covers the four core areas of the DfE standards:
Connectivity – broadband, internal network, and wireless provision
Devices – hardware age, configuration, and management
Cyber security – baseline controls and safeguarding-related settings
Digital leadership – strategy, governance, and staff capability
You’ll receive a written report within five working days of the audit, including a traffic light summary, a gap analysis, and a clear set of recommended actions in priority order.
Who is this for?
This is for headteachers, business managers, and governors who want to understand their school’s IT position before an Ofsted inspection, a MAT review, or a budget conversation. It’s also useful if you’ve recently had a change in leadership and want to get a baseline picture of where things stand.

FAQs
How long does the audit take?
The on-site or remote assessment typically takes a day. Your written report will follow within five working days.
Do we need to prepare anything?
No significant preparation is needed. We’ll ask for a few basic details in advance, things like your broadband provider and device inventory, but we handle the rest.
Will this help us with Ofsted?
Yes. The DfE Technology Standards are increasingly referenced in Ofsted’s school improvement conversations. Having an up-to-date audit demonstrates that your school takes its IT governance seriously.
Can you help us fix the gaps you find?
Yes. The audit is standalone and independent, but if you’d like support implementing the recommendations, we’re happy to discuss that separately.
